Course Description
This two-day course focuses on mastering anterior composite veneers, covering tooth anatomy, optical and mechanical principles, and finishing techniques for lifelike restorations. It includes lectures on case planning, color selection, and advanced clinical cases like diastema closure and peg lateral restoration. Hands-on sessions emphasize practical skills, such as creating natural translucency, masking darkened teeth, and managing occlusion for durable, aesthetic results.
Day 1
Lecture
- Anatomy of anteriors teeth - morphology (transitional and incisal line angles, embrasures, development grooves, light reflected areas, and light deflected areas)
- Important factors for the longevity of composite veneers
- Finishing and polishing protocol (macrotexture and microtexture)
- Optical and mechanical principles of composite resins
- Planning our cases
- Colour selection, light, opacity, and translucency
- Masking darkened substrates
- Use of opaques and tints
Hands-on
- Direct veneer in a worn incisor - upper central incisor (reproducing halos, translucency, incisal effects, lifelike results)
- Direct veneer in a darkened tooth (using opaques and tints to create depth and details)
Day 2
Lecture
- Advanced clinical cases
- Closing diastemas and peg laterals
- Cervical management to achieve periodontal health
- Maintaining the shine and smoothness of composite resins
- Importance of canine guidance
Hands-on
- Restoring a peg lateral tooth - reproducing nature
- Direct veneer in an upper canine - occlusion considerations
